Joshua Velazquez began his dancing career at Midwest Regional Ballet under the direction of Kaye Lewis. His signature roles at Midwest Regional Ballet include Dracula and Oberon in Midsummer Night’s Dream. He went on to dance the role of the Mad Hatter in American Youth Ballet’s production of Alice in Wonderland. He continued his training under the direction of Paula Weber, David Justin, Ronald Tice, Gary Abbott, DeeAnna Hiett, and Tobin James at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He has performed professionally with Störling Dance Theatre, American Youth Ballet, Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, and has performed at the Harlem Globetrotters halftime show. Joshua looks forward to his first season with Missouri Contemporary Ballet.
