Julie Artemova-Schauwecker

Ballet Mistress

Julie Artemova–Schauwecker was born and raised in Moscow, Russia where she studied and performed with Bolshoi Ballet Academy and Bolshoi Ballet Company for ten years in numerous classical ballets that included Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, La Fille Mal Gardee, Coppelia, Don Quixote, and Flower Festival in Genzano. In 1995, after a career ending injury Julie moved to United States where she discovered her love of teaching dance. Julie worked at Dove Dance and Classen School of Advanced Studies in Oklahoma City, teaching a variety of dance techniques such as classical, lyrical, pointe, character, and historical dance. After moving to Columbia, MO in 1999 she began teaching at Columbia Dance Academy. Even though Julie was not able to continue her career as a professional ballet dancer she is still passionate about performing and loves to dance with various churches in town as well as performing at local venues. She was also featured in several dance videos with “Remove the Lens Cap” production over the years.
