Missouri Contemporary Ballet continues the excitement of the 2017 Solar Eclipse Totality by exploring its effects in their original production: “Eclipse in Movement.” This performance includes several world premieres and inaugurates a 12th Season of entirely live music, a new benchmark for the Company. “Eclipse in Movement” features live music and includes several world premieres with works by Karen Mareck Grundy, Fernando Rodriguez, and Penny Saunders.  Choreographed by MCB’s Artistic Director Karen Mareck Grundy with Resident Choreographer Fernando Rodriguez and the talented Penny Saunders, world renowned dancer and choreographer. Eclipse in Movement includes original compositions by local and national composers with one work by a new composer from the MU School of Music. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to enhance this experience of bringing celestial movement to the stage!

March 16 & 17, 2018 – Cinderella: a Collaboration with Odyssey Chamber Music Series Island Moving Company from Newport, RI

Missouri Contemporary Ballet continues its 12th Season of performances to live music in a multi-layered collaboration of one of the classic stories for the ages. From glass slippers to pointe shoes, MCB revisits one of its cherished local friends by collaborating with the Odessy Chamber Music Series in this original production of Sergei Prokofiev’s Cinderella played on two pianos. With choreography from Artistic Director Karen Mareck Grundy and Resident Choreographer Fernando Rodriguez, Cinderella delights the senses and brings new life to a favorite storyline. The second half of this collaboration brings MCB’S friends from the Island Moving Company (Newport, RI) back to the stage in Columbia five years after their first performance here. Building on their work together at the Great Friends Dance Festival in Rhode Island last summer, MCB and IMC compliment one another in a perfect fit!
