Kristin came to Columbia in the early 90’s to attend Mizzou. She worked at Boone Tavern throughout her college career and met lifetime friends and her future husband while working there. After a short stint in Portland, Oregon upon graduating from MU, she moved to Kansas City where she worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation specialist while obtaining her M.A. degree in Education from Drake University. Missing her college town and the roots she had planted, Kristin moved back to Columbia and married long-time friend, Rusty Walls. Together for nearly 20 years now, they have two sons; Owen-16 and Logan-14. Kristin owns and operates Sunlight Family Yoga, a business that she started in 2016 in which she provides on the go Yoga & Mindfulness sessions to people of all ages from preschool, elementary and middle school age children to residents at the Village of Bedford Walk. Prior to that, Kristin worked as a Parent Educator for Parents as Teachers. Along with traveling to schools and businesses to provide training in yoga and mindfulness, she also teaches a weekly yoga session at API fitness and trains with owner Jerrell Jackson. Kristin thrives on being busy and loves to entertain. She occasionally helps at her husbands’ family restaurant, The Heidelberg, and you can often find her working the front door on busy home football weekends. When she is not busy with her boys’ activities and the family businesses, Kristin loves to run, go to the park with Rusty and their dogs and hang out with friends. Kristin completed the Leadville Trail 100-mile endurance race last August and tributes her crew of 6 close friends for getting her across the finish line. With her trail shoes well worn out, Kristin is excited for the opportunity to take on a new challenge with her dancing shoes!
