Support Missouri Contemporary Ballet
From teaching to live performance, we cannot do the work we do without the support of our community. If you would like to help, you can donate at any time on our website.
Ballet Relevés for Black Lives
Missouri Contemporary Ballet and the School of Missouri Contemporary Ballet stand with you. We are joining ballet companies and schools across the country in #BalletRelevesforBlackLives. Ballet is a silent art form, but we cannot choose silence any longer. It is at the core of our values and our mission to support the advancement of racial equality in dance and in all aspects of life. We have always been and will continue to be committed to looking honestly at our organization to acknowledge injustice, as well as make changes that support inclusivity for our entire community. Dance is for everyone. Black Lives Matter.
We have decided to make a few changes to our dress code to be more inclusive. From now on, students will have the option to wear tights and shoes that most closely match their skin tone. Additionally, any hairstyle that keeps hair away from the face and neck is permitted, as long as the hair will not be hitting the dancer in the face when turning. We understand and acknowledge that these changes alone are not enough, and we will continue to fight for racial justice in our community.
Due to the changing circumstances in regards to COVID-19, we have had to postpone and cancel many MCB events, however, the School of MCB will be holding a Spring Semester with both in-person and virtual options.
